February 3rd, 2014

So, you’re looking for a full size pickup.  Well, before you drive all over your local area visiting dealerships and checking out all the various models, here is something to help you hone down your search.  At True Consumer Reviews, we invited over 100 full size pickup owners to our research facility to conduct a detailed, hands-on comparison of 6 full size pickup crew cabs, including the recently launched 2014 Toyota Tundra, Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, and Ram 1500.  The pickup owners pored over each vehicle, rating them on over 100 attributes.  Then, we statistically summarized their ratings into a handy summary that gives you a quick, clear look at how each model measures up in all the major categories.

So, what did over 100 real owners – people like you – find to be the best pickup?  Here is a brief look at the top three contestants as they see them.

The 2nd Runner-up:  2014 Ford F140:  In the final year of its lifecycle before the redesigned 2015 F150 comes out later this year, the F150 scored 3rd highest among 6 full size crew cabs tested.  F150 scored best-in-class for overall driver visibility and rear seat environment.  Exterior appearance, value for the money, and fuel economy with the 3.5L V6 turbo were seen as strengths.

First Runner Up:  2014 Chevrolet Silverado:  Launched in the summer of 2013, the 2014 Silverado crew cab tied Sierra and F150 for best-in-class overall driver visibility, and rated above average for overall exterior and interior appearance, interior controls, front seat comfort and storage, and cargo bed.  Value for the money and fuel economy with the 5.3L V8 were viewed as strengths.

2014 Chevy Silverado

And the winner is:  2014 GMC Sierra:  The redesigned 2014 Sierra launched in the summer of 2013 together with its GM sibling, the Silverado.  Sierra rated

similarly to Silverado across most measures, but was better liked for its more luxurious interior materials and content at the mid trim levels tested.  Sierra captured top honors for exterior appearance, interior appearance and controls, front seat comfort, roominess, and storage, and overall driver visibility.  As with the Silverado, fuel economy with the 5.3L V8 was seen as a strength.
