Volkswagen Jetta Consumer Reviews by True Consumer Reviews

November 14th, 2011

Volkswagen JettaIn its 6th generation, the redesigned 2011 Volkswagen Jetta follows on the heels of what has been the 5th best-selling compact sedan in the U.S.

So, how does the redesigned Jetta do with compact sedan owners we invited to our research facility to test it alongside 10 other competitors?

The redesigned Jetta tied with the Chevrolet Cruze for the second most appealing overall exterior appearance among the 11 sedans tested.  Its sporty profile incorporates attractive details with its wrapping tail lights, angular lines, and appropriate proportions and headlamp shapes.  For those carrying extra cargo, the Jetta’s top-rated trunk area was liked for its size and ease of loading and unloading.  The rear seats fold down to allow for a 60/40 split.

Looking at the Jetta’s interior however, the story is less positive.  The instrument panel is straightforward and simple, providing what many find to be a look that is too plain.  This basic look continues throughout the interior from the steering wheel appearance to the center console gauge cluster.  From a comfort perspective,  consumers disliked Jetta’s tight head and shoulder room, lack of a center arm rest, and overly firm seats.

Lower interior material quality and basic equipment execution lands the Jetta in the lower half of 11 sedans tested.   If you’re looking for Volkswagen Jetta consumer reviews or other compact sedans, you’ve come to the right place.
