Subaru Legacy Consumer Reviews by True Consumer Reviews

December 19th, 2011

The Subaru Legacy tied with the Nissan Altima and Honda Accord for the 4th highest rated midsize sedan.  Legacy’s front view rated second highest of the 13 sedans tested, with its prominent grill, chrome trim and sculpted lower bumper seen as sporty looking.  However, overall exterior appearance rates only average, with the Legacy seen as boxy and masculine, a look befitting its active outdoor image and standard all-wheel-drive.

Inside, Legacy ties Camry and Accord for the top rated rear seat comfort and roominess, making it a car worth considering if you frequently carry adults or large teenagers in the rear seat.  Interior appearance rates above average, with top-rated quality of interior materials and appearance of the gauges.  Segment owners like the crisp graphics and blue lighting of the gauges as well as the quality look and feel of Legacy’s leather, wood and metallic trim, and textured black plastic surfaces.  Interior storage, interior controls, and visibility also rate above average.

The trunk rates below average due to its tight cargo space and small trunk opening that makes loading large items difficult.  However, segment owners like the flexibility of the folding rear seats, which fold completely flat and have trunk mounted release levers.  Warranty also rated below average.

All-in-all, Legacy’s masculine look, standard all-wheel-drive, high quality interior, roomy rear seat, and above average fuel economy combine to give it an above average rating with midsize sedan owners.
