Five Car Luxuries That Are Worth The Money

December 17th, 2013

Luxury features: We’ve all oohd and ahhd at them while car shopping, but how many of them are really worth dishing out the extra cash for? This is a question many drivers ask themselves when looking for a quality car. After all, staying within budget is a primary concern for many individuals. We understand that, which is exactly why we’ve put together a list of five car luxuries that you should definitely invest in when car shopping.

1. Navigation System:

You’re headed to a very important job interview and you miss the exit that you were supposed to take. What do you do next? You have no idea where you’re going, and the directions you’ve printed out are virtually useless at this point.

This is exactly why having a built-in navigation system is beneficial. Having a better idea of where you’re going on the road can save you a lot of time, added money and a headache in the long run.

Sure, navigation systems come built-in on many smart phones. But, do you really want to risk fidgeting with your handheld while driving? Yeah, that’s not a very safe move. Don’t risk your safety; invest in a built-in or mountable navigation system – depending on the manufacturer, some quality cars will include navigation systems in their standard-feature package.

2. Executive Rear Seats:

These are seats that are good enough to put your boss in – hence why they’re called “executive seats.” A number of quality cars will include this top-end seating option, which often comes equipped with a full-fledge center console, auto and climate control, and individual adjustment in the back seats.

In some high-end luxury cars, massaging seats are also an option. These seats will include air “bladders” that will inflate and deflate as they massage you.

3. Remote Start:

During the winter months, it can be an absolute drag to walk into a car that’s been sitting in 20-below-zero temperatures. Don’t start your morning off by shivering your way to work. Investing in a remote-start system will help you avoid this chilling situation.

Imagine, by pressing a little button, you could warm your car while your spend time getting ready for school or work.  Make sure to check with manufacturers while car shopping to see if this spec comes as a standard or upgraded feature. This luxury option can also installed by independent auto mechanics.

We’ve seen the commercials that highlight the horrendous accidents that occur when people decide to use their phones while driving. Don’t put yourself or your family in danger, make sure you invest in a built-in, hands-free Bluetooth system.

We live in an on-the-go society, which means most people don’t have the luxury of just cutting off their phone while driving. But, they can utilize Bluetooth technology to continue answering their phones without potentially creating a dangerous situation on the road. If your car has a built-in Bluetooth system, your phone – in most cases – will pick up the system automatically. The set-up process can take as little as five minutes.

With hands-free Bluetooth, you can hear and respond to phone calls through your car’s speaker system.

5. Back-Up Collision Intervention System:

Anything could be lying behind your car: a child, your pet or your kids’ favorite toy. There’s a way to avoid a potentially tragic accident from happening:  a backup camera system.

This feature serves as the eyes in the back of your car. And, on some cars, this system will alert you when you’re getting too close to something while backing up. This feature removes the hassle that’s often associated with backing up, changing lanes or parallel parking.

While some cars offer to factory install backup camera systems, they can also be installed by independent, experienced mechanics.

These added features might cost you a little more upfront when car shopping, but they could prove to be great long-term investments. Make sure to see which of your favorite cars have some of the luxury features incluede on our list by using our car comparison tool.
