consumer car review
The compact luxury sedan segment is a very competitive category, and it’s filled with an assortment of car options. Our consumer car review testers drove eight different compact luxury sedans and gave us their honest, unbiased feedback on each. Overall, the 2013 Lexus IS250 was rated 3.4 out of 5 by our consumer car review panelists. Though this isn’t a bad rating, this segment is so competitive and it is important to look at both the strengths and weaknesses of the 2013 Lexus IS250. Unfortunately, much of the weaknesses expressed by our consumer car reviewers were also echoed by an array of car experts, enthusiasts and journalists.

Standard features on the 2013 Lexus IS250 include, but are not limited to, keyless ignition and entry, power front seats, Lexus Display Audio with subscription-free traffic and weather service, 17-inch alloy wheels, dual USB ports, voice recognition, and more. Some of the optional feature upgrades include navigation system with high-resolution multimedia display, 15-speaker surround sound audio system and backup camera.

A noteworthy strength of the 2013 Lexus IS250:

Exterior appearance: Our consumer car review panel rated this feature above average. The aggressive forward leaning side view, window trim and dual exhaust were well-liked elements of the exterior of this compact luxury car. Car experts reported that they liked the overall sporty appeal to the 2013 Lexus IS250.

A few unfortunate weaknesses of the 2013 Lexus IS250:

Value for the money: With a MSRP of $35,065, the 2013 Lexus IS250 is average on its cost when compared to other compact luxury sedan options. However, many of the other vehicle options come with a higher rating. The 2013 Lexus IS250’s MPG comes in at 21 in the city and 30 for highway travel. Though that is average within this segment, it does nothing to add to this compact luxury sedan’s value for the money.

Overall storage: Noted as storage weaknesses in the 2013 Lexus IS250 were the front seat storage, trunk area and rear seat environment. Our consumer car review panel noted that the cup holder, front door storage and center instrument panel ashtray storage were all too small to be fully functional. Edmunds.com notes, “And in terms of comfort, a cramped backseat means it won’t be the best choice for families or those who frequently take on passengers… the backseat offers considerably less legroom than most competing luxury sport sedans.”

Power/Acceleration: For a compact luxury sedan that has a sporty look, many would think it would come with fast-pace consumer car reviewacceleration. However, our consumer car reviewers reported the 2013 Lexus IS250 to be sluggish. This opinion has also been voiced by Consumer Guide, saying, “One would expect a compact car with a V6 engine to turn in a 0-60 time of around 6 or 7 seconds. But Lexus quotes the 250 at 8.3 seconds, and we think it might be even worse than that. That’s especially bad for a premium compact that has to compete against Audis and BMWs.”

Overall, this car unfortunately has more negatives than positives. To hear more of what our consumer car review panel said about the 2013 Lexus IS25 and to see how it ranks against other compact luxury sedans, start a new comparison today.
